The MK-76 practice bomb like the ones at the other site.
This is the whole wing minus the piece from the inner front.
Heading down to the bottom of the canyon, it's been a long day. By the end of the day we hiked 9.5 miles.
Before heading back to the trucks, I took Doug and Mike up the canyon a short way so they could see this weapons pylon. There a lot of these scattered in the area, but this is the best one.
Following Tom back out to the highway. This turned out to be a great trip. I been wondering where the second F-4 went down ever since I visited the site of the burned one a couple of years ago. It was fun having Doug and Mike along and thanks Tom for leading us on this day.
When I got home I put the loctions I gathered from my four visits to the area together. This drawing shows the locations of some of the major pieces of wreckage and the two crash sites. Figure that the mid-air occurred over the debris field with the F-4s continuing on crashing inline. This was the final piece of evidence that convinced me that the burned out wreckage is #158379 and the one that impacted on the slope is #158364. This is only my opinion, but I'm pretty sure of it being correct.
