The Curtiss C-46A #41-5190 that I was searching for crashed on 10/5/45 hitting the peak of West Baldy. Some of the wreckage is located on the south slope of the mountain, but most is scattered down the steep north slope. Weather was a factor in this accident.
The hike to the C-46 crash site started off by taking the ski lift to the Baldy Notch.
From the Notch, I followed the Devils Backbone Trail to Mt Baldy.
