On 5/22/78 the Piper PA-18-125 Super Cub N1256A was on a cross country flight from Mesa, Arizona to Cable Airport in Upland, California. After a stop at the Chiriaco Summit Airport, the flight continued on towards Upland. A search was started after the airplane failed to arrive at it's destination, but no sign of the Super Cub or the pilot was found. Almost a year later, on 4/15/79 the missing airplane was found when it was spotted from the air by a local pilot. The NTSB listed the cause of accident as the pilot continued VFR flight into adverse weather conditions causing spatial disorientation.
