Met a group of folks from High Sierra Topix in Death Valley for a hike to Pinto Peak. On the way to the valley, Sooz and I stopped at the crash site of a Northrop YB-49 Flying Wing. The day after the hike we checked out some petroglyphs in the El Paso Mountains.
On the way to Death Valley, we stopped at the crash site of the Northrop YB-49 Flying Wing #42-102368, ten miles east of Mojave.
The guys from the X-Hunters placed a memorial in memory of the five men who lost their lives in the accident one of which was Glen W. Edwards whom Edwards Air Froce Base is named after.
All that remains of the YB-49 that crashed here on 6/5/48 are small pieces.
