Saturday morning. This is the spot I found to sleep Friday night. The plan is to meet the others at Ubehebe Crater at 6:30.
When I got to the crater parking lot at 6:15, Kathy and Jay were already there.
Looking into Ubehebe Crater. Took a few photos while waiting to see who else shows up.
Zoomed in on the colorful pool at the bottom of the crater.
A short time later Alison arrived.
On the Racetrack road. The hike to Tin Mountain starts about 10.5 miles down this road.
When I got out of the truck, I smelled oil. Looking under the truck found that the right front shock blew out it's seals. I never did like washbroad roads, time for some new shocks.
The hike started at 4,825', we were heading for a ridge we planned to climb.
Looking back at the vehicles near the start on the hike.
Making our way to the ridge.
