This was a four day road trip to northeastern Arizona and southeastern Utah. We drove 1,650 miles and visited Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest, Canyon De Chelly, Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon.
This is day #1 a couple of hours into Arizona on I-40, we came across scattered showers. The rain was a good thing, it got rid of all the bugs on the windsheid and washed the truck. It needed it. (photo by Helen)
The first place we visited was Meteor Crater, the wind was blowing over 30 mph here. We only stayed here about an hour, we have been here before about 5 years ago, it was getting late and we needed to find a camp spot for the night.
Meteor Crater is 700 feet deep and over 4,000 feet across. It was formed 50,000 years ago.
Helen with a piece of the meteorite that formed the crater. The meteorite was 150 feet across.
Day #2, this is our campsite near Joseph City. We ate a quick breakfast and headed on our way to the Petrified Forest Nat'l Park.
Helen with a little dinosaur. On the way to the Petrified Forest we saw some signs on the highway for this dinosaur park. We took some photos and checked out their museum.
