On 3/18/81 while flying for the North Cariboo Flying Service, the Beech SNB-1 #CG-RJE (BuNo39922) crashed during final approach to the Beatty Airport killing the two crew members. The aircraft was on a flight from at Yuma, Arizona to Spokane, Washington with an enroute stop at Beatty, Nevada. Factors that might have contributed to the accident were a downwind landing in turbulence at a high density altitude. The aircraft had a cargo of a spare engine loaded behind two stacked tires.

Starting off on the hike to the SNB-1 crash site. Nice to be hiking on open desert after my last three failed attemts of locating two other crash sites in mountainous terrain.

My first view of the wreckage.

Looks like there is still a lot of wreckage remaining at the site.

This is the first piece that I recognized as coming from a C-45 type aircraft. It's the top of the fuselage that would have been just over the pilot's head.

The top edge is where the windshield would have been. The small overhead window is what I recognized.
