On 12/31/94 the Cessna 182B Skylane N2569G was on a local flight out of Cable Airport, Upland, California. When the Cessna failed to return, a search was initiated by the Civil Air Patrol, but was impeded for 4 days due to severe weather and mountain obscuration in the San Gabriel Mountains. No sign of the airplane was found since it was last seen "flying low and buzzing" the Mountain High Ski Resort in Wrightwood, California. The wreckage of the missing airplane was finally found on 9/25/95 when it was spotted on a mountain side by a hiker 9 months after the accident. The skeletal remains of the pilot who was killed on impact with the mountain were found in the wreckage.
