On 9/22/66 the Lockheed Starfighter JF-104A #56-758 USAF crashed near the of town Boron, California. Capt. Claude H. Segrest was on a test flight out of Edwards AFB when there was a uncommanded pitch upward causing lost of control of the aircraft. He was able to eject from 8,000 feet and landed safely 900 feet east of the crash site. A small impact crater and many small pieces scattered a hundred yards to the south of the crater remain at the site.
