Another group shot.
The next day we drove up Warm Spring Canyon. Our vehicles down on the road as we checked out one of the mines in the canyon.
View up the canyon from Grantham Mine.
One of the tunnels.
This is just inside the tunnel.
Less than a hundred feet in there was a cave in.
This mine was across the canyon from the Grantham Mine.
The tunnel was only about a hundred feet long, but this one still had the tracks for the ore cars.
Looking out from the tunnel to the Granthan Mine across the canyon.
Back on the road. We are heading to an area that Sooz knew of that had a lot petroglyphs.
Following the others to the site.
This is the end of the road, it's a short hike from here.
On the hike to the petroglyphs.
Chip, Sooz and Rebecca checking out the glyphs, there was a lot of them on the slope.
Petroglyphs
These were my favorite ones.
Petroglyph
The others are down below, but Sooz and Chip are looking for a particular glyph Sooz saw the last time she was here.
After some searching she found it.
More glyphs.
Last petroglyph shot.
View down the canyon as we hike back.
Driving down to the valley.
Four wild burros.
Looking into Butte Valley.
Zoomed in on Striped Butte.
We didn't stop at the Warm Spring Mine on the way in, so we did on the way out.
Roof over the mine's enterance due to the loose rock.
Bracing holding up some of the broken rock.
Jeff droped his sunglasses inside the mine when he tried to see if his head would fit between the bars. Here he's fishing them out with a stick.
This mining equipment at the site came from the Gold Hill Mine.
Another view of the Gold Hill Mill.
The mill had a stone arrastre which can be seen on the left.
Closer look at the stone arrastre.
Back on the road heading back to the cabin.
We stopped here to get a few photos.
Last light in the valley as the sun set.
Back at the cabin, Chip put on a show with some fireworks Sooz had left over from the 4th of July.
Another fireworks shot.
Group shot on the last night at the cabin.
Everybody packing up and getting really for the drive home.
Heading home on Hwy 178. Another great Thanksgiving in Death Valley. THE END
