Boundary Peak (Almost) 6/25/05
On this hike Kathy got within 200' of the summit while I stopped at a saddle 1000' below. There was still plenty of time, but a bad thunder storm moved in. It was the first time I actually felt electricity on me from a thunder storm and I don't ever want to feel it again. This was the most fear I ever felt in the mountains. It will take a lot less to turn me around next time. Lightning is not to play with.
Read MoreThis shot of the peak is from where I stopped running due to triping and falling on my knee. The electricity on my forehead was gone, but how felt it in my hand that I was holding the trekking poles. Scary stuff, didn't want to leave Kathy, but I had to get out of this area. Lightning was striking around me for over half an hour.
