At the Corn Springs Campground Friday. Plan to meet Sooz and Kathy here tomorrow. Had the place to myself the first night.
Group of palms at the campground.
There were a lot of petroglyphs in the wash just before the campground.
Closer view of some of the petroglyphs. The site had two areas with great looking petroglyphs.
Found a lot of tracks around the campground that looked like they were made by a mountain lion.
Palms at sunset.
An airliner leaving a vapor trail just after sunset.
The next morning we drove to starting point for the hike. Chuckwalla Mountain coming into view.
Kathy, Sooz and me, Joe at the start of the hike.
We followed the remains of a road to the base of the canyon.
Looking up the canyon to Chuckwalla Mountain.
There were a few of these palo verde trees in the canyon.
This canyon also had a lot of barrel cactus.
Getting close to the ridge we followed to the peak.
View down the canyon we been following to the ridge.
A jet fighter flew low through this saddle while we were under it. Sooz saw it flash overhead, Kathy and I just heard it. It was so loud my ears were ringing, little scary but very cool.
On to summit of Chuckwalla Mountain 3,446'.
View to the northeast.
Zoomed in on the northeast view.
Zoomed in on my truck 1,600' below.
Hawk flying over the peak.
Hills to the southeast.
Black Butte to the northwest, we will climb it tomorrow.
