Sooz and Rachel up ahead as we start the hike to Silver Peak which is in the Shadow Mountains.
Hiking in a wash.
We were surprised to find this little desert tortoise out and about. This time of year they should all be in hibernation
Getting close to Silver Peak which is the one on the right.
Passed this mine as we neared the peak.
Marker on the peak.
Sooz, me and Rachel on Silver Peak at just over 4,000 feet.
On the peak with a view to the east.
We could see El Mirage Lake about seven miles to the south.
Starting down off the peak.
We took a different route down to see if we could find any more tortoise that might be out.
Rachel found another one still down in it's borrow.
We also found the remains of another.
Back at the trucks.
We headed north up Hwy 395 for the hike to Fremont Peak.
Following Sooz and Rachel to the trailhead for Fremont which is the peak up ahead.
This is where we started hiking from.
After we gained a little altitude, we were looking down on some of the motorcycle riders that were in the area.
As we neared the peak started getting a view of Cuddeback Lake.
Me, Sooz and Rachel on Fremont Peak at 4,584 feet.
We had a great view of Cuddeback Lake to the north.
Hanging out on the peak. It's getting late and the sun will be setting soon.
Rachel leading the way down.
Sooz starting down off the peak.
It was really steep up near the top.
Zoomed in on Rachel and our trucks down below.
This part of the hike was fun.
On the old mining road.
We were starting to get a great sunset.
We got back to the trucks about 15 minutes before it got dark.
Great looking sunset.
Another sunset shot.
We spent the night at Rachel's place. She made us a great dinner, thanks Rachel.
Rachel's dome, really liked the place. Wish I had one of these in this area. THE END
