The trail gets really steep after about half mile.

There was a good trail up to this point. Soon I would be on use trails that kept disappearing into rocks.

Reached the first patch of snow above 11,000'.

Came across this marmot at about 11,700'. He was hanging out in a ring of rocks.

After I got a few photos he started doing the marmot dance, then ran away at full speed.

As I approached the summit this herd of people started down, good timing.

This level area was in the middle of the steep stuff, good place to take a break. The pile of rocks on the right is where I saw the dancing marmot.

Took a different route down and hiked through an area filled with wild onions, smelled good.

These folks from France were watching the marmots playing in the rocks.
