Our hike to Timosea Peak started at Walt's Point on the Horseshoe Meadow Road. We parked just above Walt's Point to leave room for the hang glider pilots to set up their wings.
Joe(me), Cori and Tom at the start of the hike at about 9,200 feet. We will be loosing altitude on the hike to the peak which is at about 8,650 feet.
Starting the hike.
Looking down the ridge that we will follow to the peak which is the second bump from the left.
View down Slide Canyon to Owens Lake.
We hiked down at the start to avoid the rocky ridge on the first half of the hike.
Looking back up at the Horseshoe Meadow Road.
Still heading down. Tom lead the way on this hike, he attempted it a short time ago and had to turn around when he ran low on water.
As we hiked on, Wonoga Peak came into view. Also the hang gliders can be seen setting up on the left end of the road.
Zoomed in on the hang gliders at Walt's Point.
Tom waiting up ahead for Cori and me to catch up.
We are still traversing the slope below the ridge.
We took a snack break here at about the half way piont to the peak. We were able to hike up on the ridge most of the way to the peak from here.
It was nice to get on level groud after hiking across the slope.
Cori climbing over some of the rocks we came upon from time to time.
Clouds froming over Wonoga Peak. Thunder storms were forecasted for later in the afternoon.
From here we got a good view of Timosea Peak which is just over Cori's head. The hike to the peak is just under 2.5 miles, but the terrain made for slow going.
Down climbing a rocky section.
The hang gliders were up.
Zoomed in on one of the gliders.
It was nice having trees on the hike. It was really hot and we stoped in their shade a few times.
Getting close to the Timosea Peak.
Climbing the rocks on the bump before the peak.
A short way to go.
Cori and Tom almost on the peak.
Tom, Cori and me on Timosea Peak at about 8,650 feet.
Tom with the register. This is such an out of the way peak, we didn't think there would be one here. The first entree was in 1940.
Signing the register.
View to the south down the Owens Valley.
Looking down to Cottonwood Creek 2,200 feet below.
View to the west towards Trailmaster and Cirque Peaks.

Hiking down off the peak.
We took a different route near the peak and came upon this area with a lot of flowers.
Tom found this rattler. Nice colors.
The first mile on the way back was on easy terrain, here we are getting to the harder section.
Rain was falling to the south, but we only got a few drops.
Traversing the slope just below the ridge.
As we neared the end of the hike, we approached the little peak on the ridge.
We droped down to avoid the peak's rocks.
Still going down.
Traversing the slope again. The Hoseshoe Meadow Road can be seen in the upper right above us.
Looking back at the little peak we skirted around. It looks a lot bigger from this side.
