Sooz, Kathy, Dennis, Norma and me, Joe at the Cottonwood Pass Trailhead at 9,950 feet. Plan is to hike to Trailmaster Peak and then on to Cirque Peak.
A short way into the hike.
Hiking along side Horseshoe Meadow. Was surprised by the lack of mosquitos in the area.
Hiking through the trees.
Looking back on Horeshoe Meadow.
Zoomed in on the meadow. Looks really dry for this time of year.
The group taking a break on Cottonwood Pass at 11,120 feet.
View to the west from the pass.
We left the trail a short way beyond the pass and headed towards the peak.
Looking back.
The first peak is a false one, we hiked around the right side about two thirds of the way up.
There was a lot of rocks, but they were easy to hike through.
Norma and a view to the east.
Sooz and a view to the southeast.
Almost to the peak.
Group shot on Trailmaster Peak at 12,336 feet.
The peak register which was placed here just last week by Tom Gossett.
On the peak.
Chicken Spring Lake and Big Whitney Meadow to the southwest.
Closer view of Chicken Spring Lake.
South Fork Lakes to the north.
Norma found a nice spot. Sooz's monkey is trying to climb out of the pack.
This was the Green Monkey's first peak.
Cirque Peak and Mount Langley to the northwest.
Zoomed in on Mount Langley.
Zoomed in on Cirque Peak. After taking a long break on the peak, Sooz, Norma and Dennis continued on to Cirque.
Kathy and I starting the hike down. Kathy was hiking Mount Whitney tomorrow, so she needs to get to the Whitney Portal where she's meeting someone. I just didn't have the energy for Cirque.
Getting close to the pass.
At the pass.
Kathy is pointing to a fish. We are almost back to the trailhead.
